Sarah Byrne, BA, BEd, MACP, Clinic Owner

Registered Clinical Counsellor and Play Therapy Practitioner

Prior to working as a counsellor, I was an Elementary Teacher, Special Education Teacher, Learning Support Teacher and School Counsellor. With nearly two decades experience working in various school districts in Alberta and B.C., and in private practice, I understand the various challenges children and families face. I began Byrne Counselling & Consulting to help children, youth and families thrive.

My approach is straightforward and compassionate. Through practical and actionable steps, I help children and families build the skills needed to reach goals and improve functioning.

Currently, I specialize in childhood anxiety, school concerns, parent support, and helping families understand a child’s struggle to manage emotions and corresponding outsized reactions.

Maisie

Maisie

Therapy Dog

Maisie works alongside me as a co-therapist. She has proven to be a talented therapy dog in both child and parent sessions. She greets everyone with warmth and excitement, especially once she becomes familiar with you. Her level of involvement in sessions will vary depending on the individual client. She may offer a happy greeting and spend the rest of the session snoozing on her bed, or be an integral part of the therapy.

Maisie comes to the office with me every day. Occasionally she needs a day off so there are no guarantees, but there’s a good chance you’ll see her happy face and wagging tail when you arrive.  If you or your child are uncomfortable with dogs for any reason, please let me know.
