Play Therapy
“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”
— Fred Rogers.
Play is the first language of children and play therapy offers a way for children to express themselves, process experiences, and develop effective strategies for managing their world. Children have a natural capacity for healing through play. A counsellor with specialized play therapy training, can help children experience relief from emotional difficulties and develop ways to cope with the following:
- Grief and loss
- Relationship struggles
- Low self-concept
- Emotional management
- Behavioural concerns (home and/or school)
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Trauma
- Separation and divorce
